Electric Shaver vs Razor: A Complete List of Pros and Cons

3
Bearded man is looking at shaver.

A close, clean shave is an important part of hygiene for men. In order to get the best shave, men are dependent on their shaving equipment. The evolution of shaving over the past 75 years has moved from a straight razor, to manual razors, and finally, the shaving industry has been infiltrated by the advent of technology in electric shavers. While the choice between a razor or electric shaver is strictly personal, there are some objective factors that can be used to help analyze the pros and cons of using each method. Here is a look at the pros and cons of using an electric shaver vs razor – let the shaving machine vs razor battle begin!

Manual Razors

Pros:

  • Manual razors provide a much closer shave than most electric shavers.
  • Manual razors are easier to use and maintain.
  • From a cost standpoint, the initial cost of the manual shaving equipment is a bit more affordable.
  • Manual shaving equipment is easier to find than electric shavers.
  • Manual razors are more portable due to their size.

Cons:

  • Manual razors require always require wet skin conditions and usually require some type of shaving cream or lotion.
  • It is easier for the skin to get nicks and cuts from manual razors.
  • The manual shaving process takes a bit longer as it may require multiple shaving strokes over several areas of the face in order to get the desired smoothness. Also, the time needed to apply shaving cream is additional.
  • Manual shaving equipment needs to be replaced more frequently resulting in higher costs over a long period of time.

As written above, the initial cost of manual shaving equipment is in general lower compared to electric razors. You can find very good manual shavers for around 40 USD, for example the Merkur 20C Long Handle Black Double Edge Safety Razor. That being said, the battle of electric shaver vs razor is not won based on the price of equipment. You can also go for the top equipment which can go up to the hundreds of dollars. One good choice for a supreme manual razor would be for example the Baxter of California Double Edge Safety Razor Set. It doesn’t get better than this!

Electric Shavers

electric shaversPros:

  • With electric shavers, the time needed to shave is less. This comes as a result of the shavers ability to quickly glide over the face and efficiently cut the hairs. Also, there is a time savings resulting from the fact no lotions or creams are required.
  • Electric shavers can be used anywhere as long as the battery is charge or an electrical outlet is available.
  • Electric shavers can be used on body hair, and as beard and mustache trimmers. These tasks are almost impossible to do with a manual razor.
  • Users are less likely to sustain nicks and cuts.

Cons:

  • Electric razors do not shave very closely. Users may find themselves having to shave more often.
  • Electric shavers require constant cleaning and maintenance. If they breakdown, it is usually more cost effective to just purchase a new one.
  • While manual razors are available anywhere, electric shavers are usually found only in department stores or major shopping centers.
  • Some electric shavers put out loud, annoying sounds that can wake up other members of the household.
  • The batteries can run down and interrupt the shaving process.
  • Individuals with sensitive skin may experience “razor burn” with some electric shavers.

In case you like some trivia: The first electric razor was patented in 1928 by the American manufacturer Col. Jacob Schick. I guess it’s save to say that a lot of progress was made since then and that using an electric razors is more pleasant today than it was back in the days.

Have a look at our Best Electric Shaver Reviews to find the electric shaver which fits your needs. And in case you want to keep a certain length to your beard, don’t miss out our review on the best professional beard trimmers.

Manual Razor vs Electric Shaver: The Conclusion

It is very clear that both methods have their advantages and disadvantages. The personal choice really comes down to the user’s objectives. If an individual wants a close, effective shave, manual razors represent the best choice between these tow options. For those who prefer convenience and efficiency, they will want to opt for a top end electric shaver.

Avoiding “Dad Jeans” When Shopping For Denim

0
dad jeans
Jeff to the Maxx / Flickr

Are you one of those guys who thinks it’s just about trying on a few pairs of pants until you find something you can comfortably move around in? Well, I hate to burst your bubble, but if so, it might be time to take a peek down below your waist to make sure you’re not committing the ultimate denim faux paus – dad jeans.

A long worn-out fashion statement (if ever it was one) from a decade and a half or more ago, these pants leave you looking older, plainer, frumpier, flabbier, and altogether dorkier than any modern man with a sense of pride in clothing choice should ever subject himself too.

Whether you’re a single guy who doesn’t want to send out the stay-at-home dad vibe to the ladies or are an actual dad that doesn’t want to embarrass his family, here are some things to keep in mind when shopping for pants:

1. Stonewashed is Out!

Yes, stonewashed jeans were, at one time, a cool thing to wear – but that was the 80s, Man! It’s time to move on.

In fact, it’s safe to say that if your wardrobe hasn’t evolved at all in ten or twenty years, you have some catching up to do…

Here in the real world, modern jeans come in a lot of different colors and shades. To keep it simple, go with a sleek dark rinse.

2. No Tapered Legs

If a pair of jeans you try on hug your ankles down around the top of your shoes, run for your life! Tapered legs throw your lower body off balance and often give the effect of wearing high-waters – in the worst cases, they even bunch up, adding to the already-frumpish look.

Straight legs are the way to go.

3. Wear Fitted Pants

The biggest mistake is often just failing to wear pants that properly fit. Your jeans aren’t “relaxed;” they’re baggy and unflattering, in all the wrong places. Instead of guessing, take actual measurements to determine your correct pant size.

Fitted jeans should hug the body’s natural shape a bit. You don’t need to go the skinny jean route, but a correct fit can make all the difference for a guy who has been wearing unflattering clothing.

4. Just Say No to High Rise

Another big mistake and major identifier of the dad jeans is the high rise. The “rise” of your jeans is essentially the distance from your crotch to the top of the jean, and dad jeans usually come up above your waist, creating the illusion that your pants are pulled up too high. It all amounts to a very unflattering midsection and saggy-looking butt.

A medium- to low-rise is a better choice, depending on your body type.

5. Get Help!

Picking out a great pair of jeans isn’t rocket science, but it can be an intimidating challenge if you don’t know what great jeans look like. Get a family member to take proper measurements, or have them do it at the store. Visit it a tailor for advice and measurements.

Or, best of all, bring a fashion-savvy woman along with you to pick out a pair, and after that you’ll have a baseline to work with.

Repeat after me: just say no to dad jeans!

Can You Pull Off The Suit Jacket/Sport Coat With Jeans Look?

0

It’s an old argument in fashion circles, with vehement views on both sides – some even go as far as to call it the “business mullet” – but for proponents, there’s nothing better than a sport coat, blazer, or suit jacket with jeans. It’s an easy way to get more mileage out of your gear and look sharp while showing you’re an edgy guy who bends the rules.

Or is it? Are these guys wearing suit jackets or sport coats with jeans really getting away with it, or only fooling themselves?

A Fine Line

While this combination can work, it’s highly dependent on a number of contextual factors.

The key to pulling off this look is that you want to dress the jacket down, rather than vice versa. You do want to pick nice denim, but at the end of the day, it’s not really possible to dress denim up past a certain point; denim will always be denim. So it’s important that the coat be very casual.

This is why the blazer or sport coat with jeans is far more successful than attempting something similar with a suit jacket.

Do you know the difference between a Sport Coat, a Blazer and a Suit Jacket? If not, make sure to check out our in-depth guide on the differences between Sport Coat vs Blazer vs Suit Jacket..

What’s the Difference?

A suit jacket is part of a uniform – it’s meant to be combined with a pair of trousers, often designed to go with that jacket specifically. The entire suit functions together, and the jacket alone may look out of place.

On top of that, the suit jacket is much more formal than a sport coat or blazer and has a lot of structure. This makes it more challenging to pass off as casual wear.

The blazer, on the other hand, is a step down in formality and, in the days of old, was more likely to be worn to a nice dinner. They have less structure than a suit jacket but more than than sport coat.

Finally, the sport coat is designed for getting outdoors, originating in a time where men actually wore nice jackets when “sporting” (i.e., running down wild animals).

Due to this casual nature, these are the easiest to wear with denim.

Is it the Right Occasion?

sport coat jeans 2Before venturing into this territory, determine whether casual wear is even acceptable. For an event that calls for a suit, you won’t be perceived as creative by showing up half-prepared.

Remember, this is a case of dressing your jacket down rather than dressing the jeans up. So no matter how you go about it, it will never pass for formal wear.

Causal events with a lot of guys in button-ups and ties are a good choice for this ensemble. With a chance you’ll be overdressed instead of under-dressed, the timing is on the money.

Picking the Right Jacket

After considering whether it’s an appropriate move, take a hard look at the sport coat or blazer you’re wearing. Does it fit right? Jeans or no jeans, a guy in a jacket that doesn’t fit right looks like a fool.

Also, shoot for informality as much as possible, with very little structure in the shoulders, high armholes, and preferably 2-buttons rather than 3, so it’s more open. Don’t go with peak lapels, do choose notch, and keep them slim if possible.

Great fabrics to consider are tweed, linen, corduroy, and moleskin.

A Reminder About Jeans

The jeans you wear are also important. You want dark, fitted jeans that flatter your body – as always, avoid “dad jeans” at all costs. And unless you’re famous enough to be giving autographs instead of working for a living, leave the torn-up skinny jeans at home.

Can the Suit Jacket Ever Go With Jeans?

jeans with sport coatIf, against my advice, you insist on trying the suit jacket with jeans, don’t “borrow” the suit jacket from your suit. It should be a standalone jacket that’s missing a pair of trousers – maybe something you salvaged out of a thrift store or from a friend.

Suits are meant for special occasions, and if go to wear it and the jacket is lying in a pile of clothes smelling like cigarettes because you wore it to a bachelor party last weekend, you’re going to regret it.

On top of that, wearing the jacket without the trousers can cause it to fade faster – especially considering that many causal events are held outside.

Your best bet is to find a suit jacket made from a unique material, like tweed, and switch out the buttons for something that jazzes it up a bit. This is much more easily passed off as a stand-alone item, which is really what you’re going for here.

Man’s Guide To Chinos: What Are Chinos & How To Wear Them

6
What are chinos

Picking up the right pair of pants can be hard for a guy, and by pants I’m not talking about jeans. I’m talking about khakis, chinos, and dress pants – three categories of threads that some guys can’t tell apart to save their lives.

Pssst … If you like this article, be sure to check out our follow-up articles on Chinos:

With a few general style tips, most guys can pretty much walk in anywhere and find a nice pair of quality jeans that fit well and head home. But with “real” pants, things get complicated, and in the end it typically comes down to finding something “good enough” and moving on with their life.

But if you want to look your best, that simply won’t do. In this guide, we’ll take a look at the chino, a versatile pant choice that can keep you looking good on those Saturday nights when jeans and khakis just aren’t enough.

What Are Chinos?

D-Struct Chinos for a casual look (Asos.com)

Chinos have been a staple in the American wardrobe since the 20th Century, originating as a pant worn in military uniforms and by men of certain trades. There is a bit of a dispute on where the name itself came about. While it’s clearly Spanish, it could refer to the traditional color of the pants (chino means “toasted” in American Spanish) or it could refer to the Chinese origins of the original fabric (chino means “Chinese” in contemporary Spanish).

But let’s get real, most of us could care less about the history of our pants and how it ties into linguistics – so what are chinos really? Well, the clearest way to put this is that chinos are the middle road between khakis and dress pants.

The easiest way to wrap your brain around the thing is to imagine these different styles of pant on a spectrum. Khakis – chinos – dress pants.

The khakis, originally coming in a khaki color but now including countless different hues, is a 100% cotton pant made for comfort. It’s also designed to fit the average guy, and let’s not sugarcoat it, in America “average” means chubby, at best. These two “intentions” equal a common characteristic of khakis; they tend to be baggy.

And while this can be okay if you’re getting comfy around the house or messing around outside, don’t expect them to be flattering. In fact, there’s nothing that will make you look short and squat like a pair of baggy, pleated khakis. Consider yourself warned.

Casual Chino LookAlso, the biggest mistake guys make is dressing khakis up – big fashion foul! Khakis are casual, and never forget it. If you choose to wear them at all, stick with shoes you’d wear with jeans. Because that’s what they are. A jean alternative; nothing more, nothing less.

Chinos, on the other hand, are a step up in dressiness. The term as it exists now refers to the style of the pants, and this is a style that is all better, all around – the most important difference being the fit. With a lower rise; slimmer, more tapered legs; and a synthetic/cotton blend fabric (usually), the pant is meant to create nice trim lines and is overall more flattering.

But don’t kid yourself – you won’t be wearing these to formal affairs. That’s what dress pants are for – the next step up in the spectrum. But we’re focusing on chinos here, so let’s save that for another day.

How to Wear Chinos

ASOS Skinny ChinosRemember, chinos are okay for semi-formal occasions. A night out on the town or a nice dinner with family and friends for instance. But while they dress up nice, don’t go too far with it – they still aren’t dress pants and won’t pass as such. It’s as important to understand, as it is important to know the difference between a sport coat, blazer or a suite jacket.

On the other hand, be careful about making blanket assumptions. Chinos also come in their own range from casual to dressy these days, and some may not have the right look and fit to be dressed up at all. This is something you’ll have to get a feel for when looking at the pants, but it’s usually quite obvious.

Most importantly, get the fit right! Break out the measuring tape or go get measured by a professional if that’s what it takes – any pair of pants can get ruined by poor fit. Flat fronts are best for slimmer guys, and pleated can help streamline a guy with some extra pounds.

Move around a little before you buy. Look at them from all angles. Bend down and touch your toes. Raise your knees. They’re a slimmer pant, to be sure, but being partly synthetic, they should be stretchier and quite comfortable. And consider getting them fitted if necessary. It’s the best way to make sure they look nice and clean.

Want to read more about how to look at your best in Chinos? We got you covered with a dedicated article on how to look great in chinos and sneakers.

Avoid excess fabric that might make the pants look baggy, particular in the rise, around the hips, or on the butt. The shape of the legs is slightly more negotiable. Slimmer legs offer a sleeker look, but as long as the rest fits right, you can experiment with boot-cut and straight legs too.

Fit. Always go for fit. Few things exude more confidence than a guy who knows how to wear chinos properly.

What to Wear With Chinos

Ah, versatility. Aside from fit, it’s the crowning feature of this style of pants.

Chinos can make a casual business get-up if you pair them with a cotton dress shirt, a cotton tie, and a cotton blazer with loafers or leather boots. Or get even more casual – surely you’ve seen the hipsters with their rolled-up pants and crazy colored sneakers or boots.

Smoking hot date this weekend? Throw on a chambray shirt and some masculine dress shoes.

If you go with neutral colors for your chinos, be sure to get spicy with your shirt. This is a chance to spark up your outfit with a creative top, or go for stripes or checkers. Or, as an alternative, consider more outlandish hues for the pants and keep the shirt subdued.

What Shoes to Wear With Chinos

What shoes to wear with ChinosAs mentioned above, this pant is made for versatility. The key concept to understand when choosing shoes is this – they need to be based on the outfit and overall look. So what are you going for? Depending on the answer to this question, you can end up with anything on your feet from driving moccasins to boots to flip flops.

Want to get more in-depth on Chinos and how can look at your best in them? We wrote a couple of follow-up posts. Have a look and get inspired!

Understanding The Differences: Sport Coat vs Blazer vs Suit Jacket

0

The age old question: What are the differences between sport coats, blazers, and suit jackets; and why are the differences important. There are several key differences you should be aware of; and you should care because as Beckett & Robb puts it: “it’s better to be overdressed than to wear ill-conceived casual.”

Sport Coats

Slim Fit Lightweight Cotton 'Alwano-D' Sport Coat by Hugo Boss

These are the most rugged of the bunch. When you hear sport coat think houndstooth or checked patterns. Think tweed. Think rustic. The sport coat’s heritage is rooted in the gentleman’s sport of fox hunting. So if you’re looking at a coat and it looks like it couldn’t handle being broken in a bit and given some character, it probably isn’t a sport coat.

Sport coats are typically heavier than blazers or suit coats, although spring and summer varieties have sprouted up over the years.

Can I Wear it With Jeans?

There is short answer to this question and a long one.

Here is the short version: You can wear a sport coat with jeans, but I would recommend some top-shelf jeans so it doesn’t look like you dressed yourself down to the waist and got distracted. Diesel makes a great pair of jeans that can be dressed up or down, and in the words of my brother, “they give you the ass of a movie star.” Also, when wearing coat always tuck in your shirt.

Interest in the long version of this answer? Check out our article on how you can pull off the suit jacket/coat with jeans look.

Seen in the wild: The English professor wore the same tweed sport coat with leather elbow patches every Thursday. Dave always wore his heavy wool sport coat with a plaid pattern to the office when he was about to fire someone.

Blazers

Brooks Brothers Regent Fit Ultimate Travel Blazer

The word “blazer” has gotten a bit bastardized by overuse. Much like all inline skates are referred to as Rollerblades, any men’s jacket that is not a suit jacket is referred to as a blazer. This is not the case. Blazers are solid colored jackets with a very subtle pattern at the most; generally no pattern at all.

The buttons of a blazer usually pop due to their color or material. Blazer buttons do not match the jacket, and in fact are usually metal. This military flare is due to the jacket’s nautical heritage. Blazers evolved from naval uniforms, and have retained their brass over the years, even while losing their militant tailoring and shape.

Can I Wear it With Jeans and Chinos?

You can wear a blazer with jeans following the same guidelines as with a sport coat. However, as many blazers are navy, you want to avoid covering yourself with various and potentially clashing shades of blue. Tan pants are a solid bet with a navy blazer. And if you wonder what to wear with chinos, a blazer is definitely a valid answer. Also, check our guide on what shoes to wear with chinos to complete your casual outfit.

Seen in the wild: The interns descended on Washington D.C. the same way every summer: covered in blue blazers like they were headed to a country club and not the halls of Congress. Michael Bluth; generally.

Blazers vs. Sport Coats

Due to the heavy materials with which they are typically made, sport coats tend to be a little bulkier and look more casual than their blazer cousins. Another thing to look at when deciding just how casual a jacket is: the pockets. “Patch pockets” are just what they sound like. Patches of material sewn onto the outside of the jacket to create a pocket. The entire pocket is visible on the face of the jacket. These can be found on both blazers and sport coats. So, all other things being equal if you are trying to pick the dressier of two jackets, choose the jacket with internal, pouch pockets.

Suit Jackets

Calvin Klein Suit, Black Stripe Peak Lapel Slim Fit

Suit coats are the easiest of the lot to spot. The buttons are not metal. The pockets are not patch packets. The coat matches the pants.

Can I Wear it With Jeans?

No. Feel free to ignore the rule, but that is the rule. In case of a casual emergency: wear the suit without a tie. It’s a great look, lets people know you are relaxed yet dressed for an occasion, and unlike trying to wear a suit coat with jeans, no one will think you don’t know how to dress yourself.

Seen in the wild: That first year law student could probably pull of his father’s suit, if he would just drop a few bucks at a tailor. Worn with the matching suit pants.

Sport Coats vs. Suit Jackets

Sport coats are noticeably more casual than a suit jacket. Suit jackets look bulky when they aren’t tailored, while sport coats are bulkier generally and thus give a little leeway in the sizing department.

Suit Jackets vs. Blazers

It is true that there are some suit jackets that could be worn as blazers. In the words of Mark Twain, first you must get all your facts, then you can distort them as much as you please. If you have a navy suit coat with a top-stitch lapel that gives it a great casual vibe and you want to wear it over a Superman t-shirt with jeans and some killer sneakers, by all means. Be bold. Be daring. OR you could just get a blue blazer so when your date spills shrimp cocktail on your jacket you only lose an $80.00 jacket and not the business half of an $800.00 suit.

“Jackets”

Some retailers have begun eschewing the sport coat and blazer labels in favor of the simpler: jacket. Linen jackets, cotton jackets, etc. The loosening of the terminology allows for some freedom when building a wardrobe, but will undoubtedly aggravate professors and real estate agents who just want to be able to find their sport coats and blazers.

A Look at Men’s Hair Products – What Are Your Options?

0

Having a great hairdo can be a real challenge for men. Unlike the ladies, you weren’t sat down as youngsters and taught the ins and outs of different men’s hair products, how they should be used, and what should be avoided.

In fact, most men just end up learning through trial and error, never really knowing if they got it right. And this is why even guys with a natural eye for fashion can often fail at keeping a consistently nice hairdo.

In this quick guide, we’ll identify some of the most popular types of men’s hair products on the market, the advantages and disadvantages of each, and a recommendation you can find online in case you want to give the particular option a shot.

Alright, let’s get right into it.

Hair Gel

Joico Spiker Water Resistant Styling GlueHair gel is a bit of a go-to hair product for men, and for good reason – as far as hold goes, you really can’t find anything better, and, with the right gel, you can expect your hairstyle to set in place throughout the day, even through the roughest of conditions.

Because of this durability, hair gel can be used for a lot of more complex hairstyles and hairstyling techniques.

The main disadvantage of hair gel is that you often have to use quite a bit of it, and because of its consistency and texture, it tends to get sticky throughout the day and can get all over your hands when you go to touch up your do or change it around a bit.

On top of that, cheap gels often contain alcohol, which can wreak havoc on your hair over time and dry out your scalp. Look for high-quality gels that have hair-conditioning properties instead.

Recommended: Many young guys swear by Joico Spiker Water-Resistant Styling Glue as the best hair gel for men.

Mousse

loreal-paris-vive-for-menMousse is an extremely versatile men’s hair product that can be used to achieve a wide range of different looks. For instance, if you want to go with that sleek, wet look, just apply mousse before your hair dries. Or, if you’re looking for a more natural effect, apply mousse to dry hair.

One great advantage to mousse is that it isn’t sticky like many other hair products, and so you can redo your hair later on in the day if you like, without making a mess, allowing you to change up your look a little bit as the occasion suits. If you have thin or weak-looking hair, it can also be used to add body. Mousse is our recommendation when it comes to alternatives to hair gel.

It’s main disadvantages is it’s lack of holding power; not to mention the often-hefty price tag.

Recommended: Have a look at the L’oreal Paris Vive For Men Thickening & Grooming Foam.

Pomade

American Crew Pomade

Another product that’s great for a natural look – or even that bed-head style that has become so popular – is pomade. Best used with shorter haircuts, just a little bit can go a long way towards an effortlessly-cool hairdo, and it’s typically made to condition your hair as well as style it.

Pomade is great for texture, hold, and molding. It’s a real alternative to hair gel if you want to go for a more natural look.

One of the disadvantages, on the other hand, is that pomade can be difficult to remove later, and if you use too much, it can create a real greasy look in your air. Make sure not to overdo it.

Recommended: American Crew Pomade is a great place to start, and they’ve got several options depending on what you’re looking for.

Wax

TIGI Bed Head Men Matte WaxSimilar to pomade but a little more aggressive is wax. This product is a lot more helpful when you’ve got a particularly thick mane to work with and is a great styler for keeping shorter haircuts in line.

One drawback to wax, however, is that it is petroleum-based, meaning that it does not mix with water. Be careful only to use it on dry hair. It can also be a little too much if you have fine, or thin, natural hair.

Recommended: TIGI Bed Head Men Matte Seperation Work Wax

Creams

American Crew Grooming CreamCreams have the texture of a light wax but are much less overwhelming to your hair than and are often pretty hard to detect due to their natural look in your hair. They are great for adding shine to curly hair or keeping small hairs that want to creep out of your do in every which direction in check.

Be careful about using creams on finer hair though; use sparingly to avoid that grease-ball look.

Recommended: Again, American Crew is a good option with their American Crew Grooming Cream.

Hairspray

Consort Hair Spray For MenIf you’re looking for a simple, easy-to-apply hair product, you can’t do much better than the long-popular hairspray, which can be used as a styling product on its own or sprayed over other products as a finish that holds everything in place.

The main advantage is this ease of use, coupled with the fact that you don’t have to grease your hands up to do your hair; just set the style in place first and then spray over it with hairspray to hold in place.

If used with wet hair, the hair spray can even be used to mold your hair in the style you want, and blow drying after use can be used to create a wider variety of styles.

Hairspray also makes your mane look full and glossy.

The main disadvantage to hairspray is that it often comes with a strong smell, and even a lighter smell can mix with the fragrance of your cologne in unexpected ways and cause a problem. Also, beware using too much, lest your hair be given a dry, brittle look that can’t really be overcome unless you wash and start all over again.

Recommended: Try out the Consort Hair Spray for Men, Extra Hold, Unscented, Non-Aerosol.

Find What Works Best For You

Interesting how each product has it’s own unique uses and works for different types of hair, right? There’s really no best men’s hair product.
And a lot of guys don’t have a clue. It’s common for a man to always use gel, for instance, because he’s always used gel. Maybe he even tried wax once and was thrown off when he tried applying it to damp hair.

By mastering the mystery of men’s hair products, you get a unique edge – after all, it’s details like this that count. How about trying out a few different products and seeing which works best for you?

Let us know your results, or if there’s another product you’re hyped up on, do share!

What Is The Best Electric Skull Shaver For Your Head?

3
Best electric shaver for your head

There was a time when clean bald heads belonged mostly to distinguished older gentlemen. Things have changed in the past 10-15 years. Now, a clean shaven head is considered just as fashionable for younger men in their thirties and forties. As a matter of fact, skull shavers for men have only become readily available in recent times.

In the past, it took a straight or manual razor and some elbow grease to get that head clean shaven. With modern technology, the market is now full of electric head shavers that are more than capable of rendering the desired result, a clean head. With all that said, there is one electric head shaver than is considered to be the best head shaver for men available in the marketplace, the Skull Shaver Bald Eagle.

>> Amazon Discount Link for The Skull Shaver Bald Eagle <<

The Skull Shaver’s Technology for Bald Heads

While the Skull Shaver may be useful for shaving facial and body hair as well, there is little doubt that this product excels when it comes to head shaving. This shaver has become the best electric razor for shaving bald head due to two unique technological features. First, the Skull Shaver was designed with five individual flex action rotary heads.

As those heads are applied to the skull’s surface, the flex action helps the shavers adjust to the contours of the skull area. This feature is critical in order to receive a close, smooth shave. The other unique feature is the horizontal handle that allows the user to hold the shaver in between the fingers while resting the weight of the unit in the palm of the hand. This feature assures maximum control while running the shaver over the bald head’s surface.

The Benefits of the Skull Shaver

the skull shaver

  • The flex rotary heads allow for a consistent, smooth shave over the entire skull surface regardless of hard to reach spots.
  • The time it takes to maintain a clean shaven skull is only minutes per day. With razors, shaving the head becomes time consuming and inconvenient.
  • The Skull Shaver is efficient enough to be used in any location, under any circumstances.
  • Each of the rotary heads can be removed individually making unit maintenance easy to perform. Replacement heads are inexpensive.
  • The Skull Shaver’s power system is strong enough to provide a good cruising speed that makes for a quick and efficient shaving process.

Negatives with the Skull Shaver

The biggest negative issue related to this particular head shaver involves time issues. The unit takes approximately fours hours to fully charge. When in use, it only has a battery life of about 30 minutes. This can become an inconvenience as the user will need to recharge after every use. If not, they run the risk of the shaver losing power in the middle of the shaving process. There really isn’t another alternative as the shaver cannot be used while plugged in with an electric cord.

Why the Skull Shaver is the best choice for bald head shaving?

When a consumer wants to find the best clippers for shaving head, they are seeking a shaver that does two things. First, they want a shaver that provides a smooth, clean shave every time. Secondly, they want a product that is easy to use and maintain. The Skull Shaver Bald Eagle scores high marks in both of those areas. The Skull Shaver comes with a charger, carrying pouch and cleaning brush. A nose hair trimmer and hair clippers are available separately. The unit is light and easy to store.

Inventor John Lyles was selfish in his motivations to develop this product. He was tired of dealing with the cumbersome process of trying to shave his head using razors or standard electric shavers. The old saying is “necessity is the mother of invention”. In the case of the Skull Shaver, that saying is applicable. Since he invented this product, people who enjoy that bald look can now achieve that look in an effective and efficient manner.
